It’s been nearly 18 months since the release of the Xbox One; just think about that for a second. It’s quite a long time, when you get down to it. The Xbox 360 had a lifespan of around 9 years, so by that reckoning we’re, what, 16% (or just under 1/6th for the fractionally-minded) of the way through this generation, if that longevity continues to this one.

Bungie has announced that Xur will remain in the Tower until Monday 10PM PST, due to the issues surrounding Xbox Live and PSN. The studio will monitor the overall situation and will prolong the extension is necessary. Once the extension finishes, Xur will go back to his regular schedule with a refreshed stock of Exotic weapons and armour.
I had decided that I wasn’t going to write about Destiny anymore. But then something very funny happened and I changed my mind. Last week was my anniversary with my fiancé and she gave me a unique gift.
See, for the last 2 months she has put up with me playing Destiny obsessively, disappearing into the Playstation for hours at a time. Turns out though that she hasn’t been idle during that time. No, instead she has been methodically cataloguing my conversations with the various people on my fire-team. My present was a list of the weirdest, and funniest things I’ve apparently said over the last 8 weeks.
If there has been one defining feature of this generation of consoles so far, its hype. Even before the hardware hit the shelves, both consoles had been endlessly talked up and down by their respective companies (with Nintendo being the anomalous exception). Read more …
