Konami and Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima have released a joint statement regarding reports of Kojima’s departure from the company. In the , Konami reassures fans that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is on track for its September 1st release. Kojima will remain involved with development up through the game’s release. Konami ended the statement by stating they are already looking to develop more Metal Gear games in the future.
Kojima had this to say in the joint statement:
“I am 100% involved and will continue working on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain; I’m determined to make it the greatest game I’ve directed to date.”
This statement really dodges the bullet as it doesn’t state whether Kojima is still actually working for Konami. Reports suggest that he is working there as a contractor until the release of MGSV.
Stay tuned.
