According to a report by Nikkei, Sony will not renew its sponsorship contract with FIFA when it expects at the end of the year. Apparently the company will instead channel the funds into structural reforms. Sony has sponsored FIFA for the past eight years in a contract worth approximately $280 million. The contract runs until 31st December 2014 and both companies are in talks with one another.

Sony would be the second company this month to drop its support after Emirates Airline announced its separation from FIFA. FIFA recently concluded an investigation into allegations of bribery for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
