Proteus Review

For our new segment on reviewing the monthly PS Plus Instant Game Collection offerings, I fired up the Vita, downloaded Proteus and settled down to see what it’s all about.

So, what can I say about Proteus? Well, first would be that Proteus is not a game. I mean not in the sense that Mario Kart, Skyrim or Papers Please are games. It’s not even a game in the way that Heavy Rain or Beyond: Two Souls are games. In the latter two, there was at least some point to the on-screen goings-on, regardless of how you felt about not actually controlling the action.

Table Top Racing Review

Sony has been lacking a truly compelling Mario Kart clone for… well, for ever. We’ve had a whole spectrum of games which have attempted to ape Nintendo’s pole position racer, from the truly awful ModNation Racers: Road Trip, to the mediocre LittleBigPlanet Karting and at the other end of the scale, the surprisingly solid Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed, which was a great early addition to the Vita’s line-up.

This week I wanted to write about the recent Destiny Beta, but since I never got to play more than about 3 minutes of it before it booted me out, I had to think of something else at the last minute. So, while I sat wondering what Destiny might be like when it releases next month, I got to thinking about the kind of characters I’d like to find myself play as and alongside this generation. MouseCraft Review

I recently returned to Japan from a trip back to Blighty and immediately had to begin studying for a Japanese language proficiency exam. That is to say that my spare time of late has been somewhat limited. So when the review copy of MouseCraft arrived I was excited and dismayed at the same time.

I’ve wanted to get my filthy paws on this game for a while and when I finally did, I had almost no time to play it. For several days I didn’t even load it up. But when I did I realised that this is precisely the kind of game that I bought a Vita for in the first place.  Read more …
