In a past editorial, I riled against the fact that most video game developers seem to consider ‘story’ to be one of the least important factors of a game. However, back in the 90s when adventure games were riding high, games were valued on the strength of their narratives, and few have been as acclaimed as Grim Fandango, which was recently remastered and released on PS4, PS Vita and Steam. The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 Review
Point-and-click games have been experiencing something of a resurgence in recent years, spearheaded by games such as Telltale’s The Walking Dead. The Escapists Review
Don’t be fooled by The Escapists cutesy graphics and quirky charm. Underneath its modest exterior lies a devilishly punishing prison escape game that will have you tearing your hair out at times and punching the air in celebration at others.
Developed by Mouldy Toof Studios, which is predominantly one man Chris Davis, and published by Team 17 of the Worms franchise, The Escapists sees you thrown into gradually more complex and demanding prisons and tasked with, as the name suggests, escaping.
Battlefield Hardline – Beta Review “The Bad”
Hot on the heels of the Battlefield Hardline beta weekend I was compelled to bring you all my thoughts on the direction the franchise is taking. I’ve always been a stalwart supporter of the Battlefield franchise, and I’ve defended the various Battlefield releases against tirades of mocking abuse from die-hard Call of Duty fans. As you can imagine I was keen to properly check out Battlefield Hardline during the free beta weekend to see if it was worth parting with my hard-earned pennies for. The ‘cops and robbers’ direction intrigued me and I was excited about the potential new gameplay alternatives it would offer compared to the standard military fare we’ve come to expect in the series. So how was it? Read on. Read more …
