Hot on the heels of the Battlefield Hardline beta weekend I was compelled to bring you all my thoughts on the direction the franchise is taking. I’ve always been a stalwart supporter of the Battlefield franchise, and I’ve defended the various Battlefield releases against tirades of mocking abuse from die-hard Call of Duty fans. As you can imagine I was keen to properly check out Battlefield Hardline during the free beta weekend to see if it was worth parting with my hard-earned pennies for. The ‘cops and robbers’ direction intrigued me and I was excited about the potential new gameplay alternatives it would offer compared to the standard military fare we’ve come to expect in the series. So how was it? Read on. Read more …
Ultima VII: The Black Gate Retrospective
It’s been a fair while, but today I’m returning to my retrospective of the illustrious Ultima series of games. Last time out I looked at the first-person spin-off title to the series; Ultima Underworld and how it deviated from the main story-arc. However, today I’m going to look at what is probably the most prominent of the main canon games; Ultima VII: The Black Gate.
Now, right up front I’ll give you this disclaimer: I’m probably going to have to renounce all journalistic impartiality in this one. Ultima VII was and is one of my favourite games. It had a big impact on my as a child and will always mean a lot to me. So, while I’ll try and give a professional overview of the game, let’s face it, it’s going to be quite rose-tinted.
That being said lets dive in! Read more …
Life is Strange: Episode 1 – Chrysalis

Soon after, she realises she has somehow gained the ability to rewind time. Try to picture what Sands of Time might be like if the prince were a teenage girl in the 21st century. That’s some imagination you have there. Read more …
Realmforge Studios’ Dark Review
Video games labeled under the “Stealth” genre stamp of classification can often be lethargic in essence and assess our fortitude in an effort to forge an atmosphere of suspense and vigilance. Realmforge Studios’ 2013 release “Dark” is by designation indeed a stealth game; but man, oh man, it is much more. Read more …
Resident Evil HD
With the wholly disappointing 2014 firmly behind us, we can finally lift our heads and begin to anticipate all the new and exciting releases 2015 might have in store for us. So let’s look at a remastered version of a game that came out in 1996. Read more …
RIFT Review – Part 3
It’s a terrible feeling, having a review hanging over your head. Or perhaps a better term is “perched upon your shoulders” like some sort of raven, pecking at you every now and then. A constant weight that is always reminding you to get it sorted.
It’s a stark contrast to its reason for being there. I’ve been playing a lot of RIFT since my last two entries in my multi-part review. I’ve been enjoying myself, because it brings back familiar memories of playing WoW back in Vanilla while being fresh enough to remain engaging and full of plenty of lore for me to feast upon.
