Bethesda have showed the very first public gameplay footage of the new Doom title. The game looks far more reminiscent of old school Doom, with fast paced firefights against multiple enemies. Players are constantly on their toes as groups of enemies are warped in at any time. Many classic enemies and weapons return in the new game, including the shotgun, the super shotgun, the plasma rifle and the chainsaw. Switching between weapons is conducted via a quick select wheel, which slows down time when activated. Double jumps, ledge mantling and execution kills make the player more dynamic than before.

In terms of multiplayer, Bethesda mentioned that Domination, Freeze Tag and Clan Arena will all be modes. The UAC Facility will be one of the maps available in multiplayer. There will also be unique powerups that will only appear in multiplayer. However, there was no mention of the Doom Beta, which was promised to those who purchased Wolfenstein: The New Order last year.

Bethesda also stated that the game will come with extensive built-in mod tools known as Doom Snapmap. The mode was described as a “built-in gateway” tool that allows players to create their own levels. Players will also be able to create and edit game logic to create custom modes, which can be shared with one button.

Doom will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in Spring 2016.
