Goat MMO Simulator

Featured - MMO

Since the 24th of October, we’ve known that there was a patch coming for Coffee Stain Studios’ hit game-come-broken-pile-of-what, Goat Simulator.  It is not until these last couple of days, however, that we have borne witness to the true extent of its majesty.  Its splendour.  Ladies, gentlemen and everything in-between, we are getting a Goat MMO Simulator.

They should have sent a poet.

Coming as a free update to all existing owners of the original game, what is officially termed as Patch 1.2 for Goat Simulator will introduce a wealth of new content.  In an obvious thumb to the nose at World of Warcraft and its latest expansion, Warlords of Draenor, the game will expand to become one of only a few MMO simulators in existence.  Certainly the only one to feature goats so prominently.

While details are still scarce at this point, we know that there will be multiple “classes” of goat, such as Rouge (yes, I spelled it correctly) and Microwave (no, I have no idea either).  Coffee Stain Studios have released a trailer for the patch, which I have embedded below, but have also shown us a few teaser images to whet our appetite.  From the little we can fathom, there appears to be a functioning inventory system, an XP system, limited skills, maps, quests, fake chat and… mermaids?

There are some who dismissed this game as being nothing but an intentionally broken game trying too hard to be funny, but I have said from the start that Goat Simulator was much more.  There are those that would bemoan its lack of content and obvious pandering to popular memes, but these people were (and are) missing the point.  If you’re interested in my take on the original game, click here for my review.

There’s no telling just how feature-rich or complex this patch is going to be.  In all honesty, I wouldn’t care if what the trailer shows is almost entirely it.  What was originally cobbled together as a broken mess to make people laugh has turned into a million-selling game that makes people laugh.  You don’t get to decide what people laugh at.  For most, this game is hilarious and I know that I’ll be playing this for a good chunk of next week.

Patch 1.2 is due out on the 24th of November on Steam.  Keep an eye out here at Zero1Gaming for more goat-related news and check out the trailer below.
