Yooka-Laylee, the spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, has become the fastest video game project to hit $1 million on Kickstarter. It took just six hours for the game to accomplish the feat, beating the previous record of seven hours held by Toment: Tides of Numenara. Thus far, Yooka-Laylee has earned over $1.3 million with 44 days still to go on its campaign.

The game is a new 3D platformer from the creative team behind Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country. The two lead characters are Yooka (a chameleon) and Laylee (a bat). The two characters have to work together to fight enemies and explore the world around them. Yooka can use his tongue as a grappling hook and Laylee can fly for a short period of time. The pair have a number of moves they can use.

Yooka-Laylee was funded in just 40 minutes, meeting its $270,000 goal. The game will release on Windows, Max, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Wii U. There are plans to include extras like soundtracks, art books and a ’64-bit’ special edition.
