343 Industries has announced that it is upgrading the Halo 3: ODST campaign and adding it to Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Those that have played the game, whilst signed into Xbox Live, between its launch date and today will receive the game for free. Here’s what 343’s Studio Head Bonnie Ross had to say on the matter:
“This has been a humbling experience and highlighted how we as a studio can – and need – to do better for Xbox fans around the world. We are so grateful to our fans who have stood by our side and we appreciate all of your patience as we worked through these issues. As a token of our appreciation and to thank fans for the continued support and understanding, we will be offering the following items…”
The campaign will run at 1080p and 60 FPS. Development on the upgraded game has just started, but we can expect to see it release in Spring 2015. Firefight will not make it into the final product. The campaign will come in the form of a free download token.
Halo fans can also expect a remastered Halo 2 “Relic” Map in Spring 2015, which will be free for all players in Halo 2 Anniversary. Early adopters of the Master Chief Collection can also expect an exclusive in-game nameplate and avatar.
343 is releasing a content update next week that will add all 10 episodes of Halo 4’s Spartan Ops mode to the MCC.
