Japanese Xbox One Boss Resigns

Takashi Sensui, the chief of Xbox in Japan, has resigned from his position and will relocate to the company’s US headquarters. Sensui will be replaced by Takahasi Minami, who joined Xbox after 25 years at Sony. It is believed the Sensui resigned after the poor sales of the Xbox One in Japan. The console is behind the 360 and the original Xbox in terms of sales. The Xbox One currently sits at 38,461 sales, which is not good considering it sold 23,562 units back in the four days following the console’s launch. This makes the Xbox One the lowest Japanese launch for a home console in recent years.

Halo Championship Series Delayed

343 Industries has postponed the launch of their Halo Championship Series, following matchmaking issues they are currently working to resolve. The first per-season online cup was scheduled for November 16th, but will now begin on November 23rd. Here’s what 343 had to say in a blog post:

“This delay will ensure that the first pre-season cup is up to the standards of our fans and competitors,”

The Championship Series is an official eSports league for competitive Halo players. Teams of four will compete in events to earn points. The team with the most points at the end of the series will play in the Championship Series finals. The league will primarily focus on Halo 2: Anniversary as the basis for multiplayer. The series is due to end March 2015.

Far Cry 4 Custom Maps Won’t Work For Competitive Multiplayer

Maps created in Far Cry 4’s map editor do not feature support for competitive multiplayer. The custom map editor only includes options for the game’s challenge maps, and not the competitive multiplayer. This is what Ubisoft Montreal’s Creative Director Alex Hutchinson had to on the matter:

“I direct the game but I don’t set budgets or timelines. We always squeeze in as much as we can, but we’re always prioritizing. We’re going to keep supporting the game, so hopefully we can get it done post release. No promises, but we will try.”

Some PlayStation 4 owners are experiencing issues with the new Share Play addition. Sony has acknowledged on that there is a bug preventing some users from accessing the new feature:

Some PS4 owners are currently unable to access SharePlay — we are investigating. The error message displayed on PS4 is inaccurate.

The Share Play feature was implemented into the PS4 through the 2.0 update. It allows PS Plus subscribers to share gameplay footage. It also allows friends to play co-op sessions with you, even if they don’t own the game. The 2.0 update has led to other bugs such as system crashes. Sony has since released the 2.01 and 2.2 updates in an attempt to fix the problems.

Sony Explains Why We Can’t Change Our PSN Names

In an interview with IGN’s Colin Moriarty, Sony Computer Entertainment America’s President and CEO Shawn Layden explained why users cannot change their PSN names and delete unwanted trophies:

“We don’t want to make it so that you can go in, grief a bunch of people in Far Cry, change your avatar, change your username, go into CoD and grief everybody over there. We want to stop that.”

“[We want to do name changing] in a way that’s transparent, but also don’t let people morph themselves, either. And yeah, it’s terrible that you have to make decisions on a service sometimes by optimizing around the bad actor. I hate that we have to do that. So we’re trying to balance that between… the 99 percent of users going to have a good experience, how can we help make that happen without giving one more tool to the bad actor to go in and ruin the experience for others?”

I think it’s ridiculous that we haven’t been able to change our PSN names since 2006. I think the issue of trolling can be solved by only allowing one name change per year.
