The Paper Mario series follows the trials and tribulations of the flattened, mustachioed Italian through worlds composed entirely of paper. The series has always been brimming with innovation, imagination, and humour and has long been a favourite of mine. So does the latest in the series, Paper Mario: Sticker Star, live up to its predecessors? Read more …
Forza 4 – The Last Great Racing Sim?
The Forza games are arguably the most underrated games available on the Xbox and 360, mainly because they don’t seem to have a fixed direction of where they way to go. They don’t seem to know whether they want to serious or they if they want to be fun. The original Forza; available on the Xbox, was a big hit with people who wanted to take their cars, customise and paint them to their hearts content. When Forza 2 came to the 360, Developers Turn 10 were really pushing to compete against the endlessly delayed Gran Turismo 5 with improved graphics, vehicle choice and racing physics. They hadn’t forgotten about the customising options that made the first so popular; they just brought a bit more substance to party. Read more …

The Darkness 2 – A Flawed Genius
I picked up the original Darkness game a good few years ago for about three quid second hand and loved absolutely every minute. Because of this I have been eagerly awaiting the second instalment to be released and, following endless delays, I now have it and I can confirm it’s absolutely everything that I could have hoped for.

As you can tell, this is one to save for when granny’s gone home and the kids are in bed. Read more …
Late To The Party – Resident Evil 6
Just to clear up one little thing, I am a huge fan of the Resident Evil series. I fell in love with the series back in 1996 when I played the very first title back on the good old Playstation and, with only a few exceptions (like the dire ‘Survivor’ game), I have enjoyed every game so far. This peaked, for me personally, with Resident Evil 2, which still stands as one of my favourite games of all time. As we all know, the series dramatically changed at Resident Evil 4, and it has evolved from there into a horror-action-shooter series from it’s original roots that were firmly lodged in survival horror. Late to the Party – Journey
Anyone familiar with fortune cookies will have heard the words ‘Life is a journey, not a destination’ – the most important aspect of the process of waking up each day, toiling away and falling asleep at the end isn’t the collection of achievements you die with, but the experience of observing all the little nuances and charms of the elegant world around you. Journey, a Playstation Network exclusive, exemplifies simple magnificence. Read more …
