I’m a big fan of conventions. Getting to hang out and meet people with similar interests to you. Getting to see some of the famous people from your current obsession. Browsing the wares of the venders in the market room.
But the best thing about conventions? Its always the costumes. Geeks will put a huge amount of effort into recreating even the smallest details of their favourite character. Whether its getting just the right necklace to making their own badges to even crafting their own shields and swords, there are few costumes that geeks won’t find a way to put together.
Yorkshire Cosplay Con had a lot of costumes this year and I managed to talk to a few of the people who put them together. Some are more time intensive than others and some are more expensive than you might think, but everyone always says the same thing. It is always a labour of love. Below are a few of the highlights from this year’s event.
