Michel Koch, the co-director of Life is Strange, is aware of the reported lip synching issues in the game. Koch acknowledged the issues in an interview with Eurogamer, though he claims there’s not much the developer can do about it.
“To be completely honest we can’t do much more for Life is Strange, season one,”
“We decided when we started the game that most of the budget should go towards the writing and voice actors – they were really what was important.
“We had to make some decisions and the way we have our character models doesn’t allow us to do much more than we have. We know this is a weak point but I think that it still works. The first reaction is – ok, I see that – but most players in the end don’t really care.”
Koch also talked about how some publishers wanted a male protagonist, more action and more quick-time events. Square Enix were the only studio that allowed the developer to continue with the original vision for the project.
Life is Strange: Episode 2 is due to release on March 24th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
