During an SXSW panel, Star Citizen creator Chris Roberts gave a few details on the huge crowdfunded game. The game recently passed $75 million in funding, which far exceeded the original goal. Roberts initially wanted to crowdfund $2-4 million, with $10 million lined up from private investors. The game was going to be scaled back for an early release, with content being added to it over time.
Roberts now believes that once the game is completed, it will have spent roughly $100 million on development.
“You can’t please everyone. That’s impossible,”
“hold true to your original vision, but remain open to input.”
During the panel, Roberts also gave a tour of a prototype cruiser and showed off the FPS mode called Star Marine.
