Persona 6 is a standalone single-player RPG and the next mainline entry in Atlus’s Persona series. It follows a new cast of characters living in modern-day Japan. The story combines everyday school life with a supernatural mystery involving strange rumors, urban legends, and occult incidents hidden beneath familiar streets and quiet neighborhoods. Players build friendships, pursue romantic relationships, and spend time creating memories with the people around them. No knowledge of earlier Persona games is required because the characters and central conflict form a separate story. Certain characters can awaken Personas, manifestations of their inner selves, and use those powers against the darkness connected to the mystery. Relationships are tied to character growth, with bonds formed during daily life making the protagonist and allies stronger during their supernatural activities. The game continues the series’ double-life structure, moving between social routines and dangerous encounters alongside a group of trusted companions. Persona 6 retains the series’ focus on relationships, personal identity, and supernatural threats while introducing a new cast and standalone mystery.
