01Overview
Age of Empires III is a real-time strategy game developed by Ensemble Studios and set during the early modern era. Players lead a civilization through exploration, settlement and warfare while gathering resources, constructing towns and building armies. Matches revolve around balancing economic growth with military expansion. Workers collect food, wood and coin, while new technologies and units become available as players advance through different Ages. Each civilization has its own military strengths, bonuses and strategic options. A major addition is the Home City system, which allows players to earn experience during a match and request shipments of units, resources or upgrades. The game also includes several single-player campaigns alongside skirmish and multiplayer modes, with battles taking place across maps inspired largely by the Americas.
