Alien: Isolation is a survival horror game set 15 years after the events of Alien. Players control Amanda Ripley, daughter of Ellen Ripley, as she travels to the remote Sevastopol space station after learning that the flight recorder from the Nostromo has been recovered. She arrives to find the station in collapse, with frightened survivors, hostile synthetics, and an unpredictable Alien stalking its corridors. Players scavenge resources, craft equipment, hack systems, and use tools such as the motion tracker to navigate Sevastopol while searching for answers about Ellen’s disappearance. Direct confrontation is often dangerous, especially against the Alien, which dynamically hunts Amanda and reacts to movement and noise. Players instead rely on stealth, distractions, hiding places, and careful resource management to survive. Firearms provide some protection against humans and synthetics but cannot simply eliminate every threat. Survivor Mode provides a separate challenge built around escaping specially designed maps while completing optional objectives under pressure. Performance is scored according to time and completed objectives, with results recorded on online leaderboards for players chasing faster runs and higher scores.
