01Overview
Age of Empires IV is a historical real-time strategy game that places players at the center of battles and conflicts that shaped the medieval world. Players gather food, wood, gold, and stone, build settlements, research technologies, and train armies before advancing through four Ages. Each civilization has its own units, landmarks, technologies, and economic advantages, creating different approaches to expansion, defense, trade, and warfare across land and sea. The Anniversary Edition includes ten civilizations, including the English, Chinese, Mongols, Delhi Sultanate, Malians, and Ottomans. Its four campaigns contain 35 missions spanning around 500 years, covering the Norman conquest of England, the Hundred Years War, the rise of the Mongol Empire, and Moscow’s struggle against outside powers. Skirmish and multiplayer matches support AI or human opponents across generated maps, with victory available through destroying enemy landmarks, controlling Sacred Sites, or constructing and defending a Wonder. Tutorials and Art of War challenges teach economy management and combat, while masteries provide civilization-specific objectives. Additional civilizations and campaigns are available through separate expansions.
