01Overview
Apex Legends is a free-to-play hero shooter where legendary characters with powerful abilities team up to battle for fame and fortune on the fringes of the Frontier. In its core Battle Royale mode, squads drop into large maps, search for weapons and equipment, and fight to become the last team standing as the Ring steadily reduces the playable area. Each Legend has a passive, tactical, and ultimate ability, and Core modes divide them into Assault, Controller, Recon, Skirmisher, and Support classes with additional class perks. Teammates can revive downed allies or recover their banners and bring them back through Respawn Beacons. Battle Royale supports Ranked and Unranked competition, with players earning EVO during matches to improve their armor and unlock Legend upgrades. Apex Legends also includes Freestyle modes outside the standard Battle Royale structure. Wildcard provides shorter 30-player matches with simplified looting, faster respawning, and more relaxed rules, while Mixtape rotates alternative multiplayer formats. The Firing Range provides a dedicated space for practicing weapons, movement, and Legend abilities before entering live matches.
