01Overview

Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game where four Survivors face one Killer in a deadly Trial controlled by an entity known as The Entity. Survivors play in third person, giving them broader awareness of their surroundings, while the Killer plays in first person and focuses on tracking and catching prey. Survivors must repair five of the seven generators scattered across the map to power the Exit Gates and escape. The Killer patrols objectives, injures and downs Survivors, and places them on sacrificial hooks to prevent the group from getting out alive. Each Killer has a unique power that changes how they hunt, while Survivors rely on teamwork, stealth, healing, rescues, and environmental tools such as pallets and windows to stay alive. Both sides equip Perks that modify their abilities and playstyle, with additional items and offerings providing further options before a match begins. Progression runs through the Bloodweb, where earned Bloodpoints unlock Perks, items, add-ons, and other rewards for individual characters. Maps use variable layouts and object placement, so routes, generators, hooks, and escape opportunities shift between Trials.
