01Overview
Avowed is a first-person fantasy action RPG set in the Living Lands, a mysterious island within Eora, the world introduced in the Pillars of Eternity series. Players take the role of an envoy from Aedyr sent to investigate a spreading plague known as the Dreamscourge. The journey leads through several distinct regions filled with settlements, ruins, wilderness, quests, and hidden areas. Combat allows players to mix swords, shields, bows, firearms, and magic, including spells that can burn, freeze, or trap enemies. Dialogue choices and quest decisions can affect characters, factions, and events across the Living Lands. Character progression is classless, allowing abilities from Fighter, Ranger, and Wizard skill trees to be combined instead of locking players into one role. Weapons and armor can be found, crafted, and upgraded using resources gathered during exploration. Companions travel alongside the player, fight using their own abilities, and have personal quests and conversations that develop during the story. Party Camps provide places to manage equipment, upgrade gear, and speak with companions between adventures.
