01Overview
Battlefield 1942 is a multiplayer-focused first-person shooter developed by DICE and set during World War II. Players fight across large maps based on battles in Europe, North Africa and the Pacific while choosing from different infantry classes. The game combines ground combat with a wide range of controllable vehicles, including tanks, jeeps, aircraft, boats and even larger naval vessels. Teams compete for control points that determine where players can respawn and gradually reduce the opposing side’s reinforcements. Battlefield 1942 established many of the ideas that would define the series, including large-scale combined-arms warfare, class-based teamwork and unpredictable moments created by players using vehicles and weapons together. Its Conquest mode became the foundation for much of Battlefield’s later multiplayer design.

The expansion adds an objective-based game mode to complement the series' traditional warfare gameplay.
