01Overview
Bloodborne is an action RPG in which players embody a Hunter who travels to the ancient city of Yharnam seeking a cure, only to become caught in a night of hunting as a mysterious illness transforms its inhabitants into beasts. Players explore interconnected streets, cathedrals, forests, and hidden areas while battling increasingly strange enemies and uncovering the origins of the Hunt. Combat emphasizes aggressive play, with firearms used to interrupt attacks and transforming Trick Weapons providing different movesets. The Regain system allows recently lost health to be recovered by quickly striking back at enemies. Defeated enemies provide Blood Echoes used to improve the Hunter’s attributes and purchase equipment. Weapons can be reinforced and fitted with Blood Gems, while the Hunter’s Dream serves as a central hub for leveling, upgrading gear, and traveling between discovered locations. Chalice Dungeons provide additional areas containing enemies, traps, treasure, and bosses outside the main progression. Online features allow players to summon others for cooperative play, invade another Hunter’s world for PvP, and leave messages that appear in other players’ games.
