01Overview
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is a team-based first-person shooter developed by Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment. Matches pit Terrorists against Counter-Terrorists in short, objective-focused rounds built around precise gunplay, positioning and teamwork. The most prominent mode is bomb defusal, where one team attempts to plant and detonate a bomb while the other tries to stop them. Hostage rescue, Deathmatch and other modes provide different ways to play. An economy system determines which weapons, armor and equipment players can afford at the start of each round based on previous results. CS also featured ranked matchmaking, community servers and an extensive cosmetic skin system. In September 2023, Valve replaced the main CS version with Counter-Strike 2, which became the active successor to the game.
