01Overview
Crysis is a first-person shooter developed by Crytek and set on a fictional island in the Philippines. Players control U.S. Army soldier Nomad, whose squad is sent to investigate the disappearance of an archaeological team before becoming caught between North Korean forces and an alien threat. Gameplay is built around the Nanosuit, which allows players to enhance armor, strength, speed or activate cloaking. These abilities can be combined with customizable weapons to approach encounters through direct combat, stealth or long-range attacks. The campaign takes place across large, open environments that give players considerable freedom in how they complete objectives. Later sections introduce the alien Ceph, including battles in zero-gravity environments and large-scale encounters that shift the game from military combat toward science-fiction warfare.
