Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is a third-person action-adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by otherworldly creatures. Players control Sam Porter Bridges as he travels beyond the United Cities of America, first into Mexico and then across Australia, working to connect isolated communities to the Chiral Network. The core gameplay revolves around delivering cargo across hazardous terrain, balancing weight, choosing routes, and preparing equipment for changing weather and natural disasters. Players can travel on foot or by vehicle and construct infrastructure such as roads, bridges, shelters, and monorails to make future journeys easier. Combat and stealth provide more options than in the original game, with Sam able to use firearms, silent takedowns, decoys, and other equipment against human and supernatural enemies. APAS enhancements unlock additional abilities that improve movement, stealth, combat, and survival. The Social Strand System provides asynchronous online interaction, allowing structures, routes, donated resources, and lost cargo from other players to appear in connected areas. Actions taken in one world can therefore make travel easier for other Porters without requiring direct multiplayer.
