01Overview
DOOM is a first-person shooter developed by id Software that reintroduces the series with fast movement, powerful weapons, and aggressive combat against demons. Players control the Doom Slayer after he awakens on a UAC research facility on Mars during a demonic invasion. The single-player campaign moves between the facility and Hell, with players using weapons such as the Super Shotgun, Plasma Rifle, and BFG 9000. Enemies can be staggered and finished with close-range Glory Kills, which drop health and encourage players to stay mobile and fight at close range. Exploration reveals hidden areas, collectibles, upgrade resources, and optional challenges throughout each level. Weapons can be fitted with alternate-fire modifications and upgraded further, while the Praetor Suit gains improvements that support exploration and combat. Outside the campaign, DOOM includes competitive arena-style multiplayer with multiple modes, weapons, power-ups, and playable demon transformations. SnapMap provides a separate creation tool for building and sharing custom single-player, cooperative, and multiplayer experiences using modular rooms, enemies, objects, and editable game logic.
