01Overview
Dragon’s Dogma II is a single-player action RPG where players create an Arisen and choose how to explore and fight across a large fantasy world. Character appearance, vocation, equipment, and party composition can all be customized, with vocations determining available weapons, abilities, and combat roles. Battles take place in real time against enemies ranging from bandits and goblins to giant creatures that can be climbed and attacked directly. Players can change vocations during the adventure, experiment with different skills, and approach encounters through melee combat, ranged attacks, magic, or support abilities. The Arisen is accompanied by Pawns, AI-controlled companions that provide combat support, guidance, and information gathered from other players’ worlds. One Main Pawn is created by the player, while additional Pawns can be recruited and replaced as needed. Exploration takes place across the kingdoms of Vermund and Battahl, with travel affected by time of day, limited fast travel, enemy encounters, and environmental hazards. Quests can develop differently depending on timing, choices, and which characters survive, making preparation and party composition important throughout the journey.
