Dune: Awakening is an open-world multiplayer survival game set on Arrakis, where players create a custom character and learn to survive one of the galaxy’s most hostile environments. Water is a constant concern, requiring players to manage thirst, maintain stillsuits, seek shelter from extreme heat, and avoid sandworms when crossing open desert. Progression begins with scavenging resources and crafting basic equipment before expanding into base building, advanced weapons, vehicles, and ornithopters. Players can explore alone or with others while completing contracts, investigating locations, and uncovering a story set in an alternate Dune timeline. As players advance, they can align with House Atreides or House Harkonnen and rise through their faction’s ranks. Spice harvesting becomes an important high-level activity, requiring equipment and vehicles to collect and transport valuable deposits while dealing with environmental and player threats. The Deep Desert contains both PvE and PvP areas, with rare resources and contested locations encouraging larger-scale competition. Coriolis storms periodically reshape the Deep Desert, changing terrain, resource locations, and opportunities for exploration.
