01Overview
Fallout 76 is an online action role-playing game and the first multiplayer entry in the Fallout series. Set in post-nuclear Appalachia, West Virginia, players control a resident of Vault 76 who ventures into the open world 25 years after the bombs fell. Exploration, questing, scavenging, crafting, and combat against mutated creatures, robots, and hostile factions form the core of the game. Players develop their character through the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system and Perk Cards, collect weapons and armor, and build customizable C.A.M.P.s that can include crafting stations, storage, defenses, and other structures. Fallout 76 can be played largely solo or cooperatively with other players sharing the same world. Public Teams provide bonuses for grouping together, while Public Events bring multiple players into shared objectives and large enemy encounters. Players can trade equipment, visit other C.A.M.P.s, complete Daily Ops and Expeditions, or claim Workshops that generate resources but can expose them to PvP. Pacifist Mode allows players to avoid most unwanted player combat. Character builds can also be changed through S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Loadouts, allowing different combinations of attributes and Perk Cards for exploration, crafting, or combat.
