01Overview
Far Cry 2 is an open-world first-person shooter developed by Ubisoft Montreal and set in an unnamed African country torn apart by civil war. Players control a mercenary sent to assassinate an arms dealer known as the Jackal while working with rival factions across the region. The game emphasizes systemic survival and unpredictable combat. Fire can spread through dry vegetation, scavenged weapons can jam or break, and malaria attacks force players to keep a supply of medicine. Missions can be approached through stealth, long-range attacks or direct assaults. Allied mercenaries known as Buddies can provide support and rescue the player, but they can also be permanently killed. A large open world, drivable vehicles, multiplayer and a built-in map editor round out the experience.
