01Overview

Forspoken follows the journey of Frey Holland, a young New Yorker transported to the beautiful and cruel land of Athia. In search of a way home, Frey must use her newfound magical abilities to traverse sprawling landscapes and battle monstrous creatures. Athia has been devastated by the Break, a mysterious corruption that has transformed its inhabitants and wildlife. Frey travels through its different regions while learning more about the fallen Tantas who once ruled the land. Combat is built entirely around magic, with several spell sets providing ranged attacks, close-range abilities, defensive options, and support spells. Movement is equally important through the Magic Parkour system. Frey can sprint across terrain, scale walls, leap over obstacles, swing from grapple points, and unlock additional traversal abilities as the story progresses. Exploring Athia leads to ruins, settlements, optional challenges, treasure, and locations that provide upgrades. Spells can be improved through specific challenges, while equipment such as cloaks and necklaces can be upgraded and modified to support different combat builds. Forspoken is a single-player game, with its progression centered on expanding Frey’s magic and movement abilities.
