01Overview
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is an open-world fantasy RPG developed by Bethesda Game Studios and set on the island of Vvardenfell. Players begin as a released prisoner who is sent to the region and gradually becomes involved in its political, religious and supernatural conflicts. The game allows extensive freedom in how the character develops, with skills improving through use and a wide range of weapons, armor and magic available. Players can explore towns, ruins, caves and volcanic wilderness while joining factions or pursuing independent quests. The main story revolves around the Nerevarine prophecy and the growing threat of Dagoth Ur beneath Red Mountain. Morrowind places a strong emphasis on exploration and player choice, with few restrictions on where to travel or which quests to pursue.
