01Overview

Ghost of Yōtei is an open-world action-adventure set in 1603, more than 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima. Players control Atsu, a lone mercenary who returns to Ezo after 16 years to hunt the Yōtei Six, the outlaws who murdered her family and left her for dead. Her journey takes place across the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, an area of Japan now known as Hokkaido, with sprawling grasslands, forests, snowy mountains, and settlements to explore. Players can choose which leads and targets to pursue while also hunting bounties, meeting allies, and uncovering more about Atsu’s past. Combat combines melee and ranged weapons, with Atsu able to use equipment such as the katana, dual swords, spear, kusarigama, bow, and firearms. Different weapons are suited to particular enemy types, encouraging players to switch during fights. New weapons and techniques can be learned from masters found throughout Ezo, while Altars of Reflection provide additional skill upgrades. Exploration also includes shrines, hot springs, campsites, Sumi-e painting, and encounters with travelers who can provide supplies, information, or new songs.
