01Overview

Helldivers 2 is a cooperative third-person shooter where squads of up to four players deploy from orbit to hostile planets and complete military objectives for Super Earth. Missions range from destroying enemy facilities and launching missiles to defending positions and extracting valuable resources. Players choose weapons, armor, and Stratagems before deployment, then call in equipment such as support weapons, supply drops, turrets, orbital strikes, and airstrikes during combat. Friendly fire is always active, making positioning and communication important when fighting the insect-like Terminids, robotic Automatons, and technologically advanced Illuminate. Completed missions contribute to the Galactic War, a shared campaign where the entire player base influences which planets and sectors Super Earth controls. Operations can contain multiple missions at increasing difficulty levels, with harder deployments introducing stronger enemies and more demanding objectives. Players collect currencies and resources that unlock equipment, improve their Super Destroyer, and expand their available arsenal. Major Orders give the community shared objectives, while changing planetary conditions and enemy advances continually shift where battles take place and what squads encounter.
