01Overview

iRacing is a subscription-based racing simulation for PC covering disciplines including NASCAR, sports cars, formula cars, dirt oval, rallycross, and off-road racing. Players compete using officially licensed cars and laser-scanned circuits, with races organized through scheduled series and sessions. Official competition uses separate license classes and rating systems, with Safety Rating tracking clean driving and iRating measuring competitive performance for matchmaking. Drivers begin in Rookie competition and can progress through higher license classes by meeting participation requirements and maintaining a sufficient Safety Rating. Alongside official multiplayer racing, iRacing supports hosted races, private leagues, team racing with driver swaps, time trials, endurance events, and customizable races against AI opponents. Its public racing calendar is divided into four seasons each year, with series covering different cars, tracks, and license levels. A membership includes a selection of cars and tracks, while additional content can be licensed separately for use in series that require it. Players can race with compatible steering wheel setups or other supported controllers, while vehicle physics, track conditions, race procedures, and organized competition form the core of the simulation.
