01Overview
Left 4 Dead is a cooperative first-person shooter developed by Valve and set during a catastrophic zombie outbreak. Up to four players control a group of survivors fighting through abandoned cities, hospitals and other overrun locations while trying to reach evacuation points. Each campaign is divided into several stages connected by safe rooms. Players must share weapons, ammunition and healing supplies while dealing with large hordes of common infected and dangerous Special Infected such as Hunters, Smokers and Tanks. The game’s AI Director changes enemy spawns, item placement and pacing based on how the team is performing, making repeated playthroughs less predictable. Although it can be played with AI-controlled teammates, Left 4 Dead is built around cooperation, with friendly fire and incapacitation making poor teamwork especially costly.
