Magic: The Gathering Arena is a free-to-play digital collectible card game by Wizards of the Coast that follows the rules of the tabletop game. Players build decks using lands that generate five colors of mana, then spend that mana to summon creatures, cast spells, and activate abilities while trying to reduce their opponent’s life total to zero. New players can learn the basics through tutorials and starter decks before building their own collections through boosters, rewards, and Wildcards. Constructed formats include Standard, Pioneer, Historic, Timeless, and Brawl, each with different deck-building rules and available card pools. Arena also supports Limited formats where players build decks from cards opened or selected during an event rather than bringing a prepared deck. Draft includes Premier, Traditional, and Quick Draft variations, while Sealed gives players booster packs from which to construct a 40-card deck. Ranked competition uses separate Constructed and Limited ladders, with seasonal progression based on match results. Events, tournaments, and rotating formats provide additional ways to play beyond the standard ranked and casual queues.
