MBC Game Studio has revealed 1001 Threads of Mizan, a new Arabian fantasy action-adventure built around flying carpets, enormous jinn, and co-op for up to three players. The studio debuted its first game during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25.
Inspired by One Thousand and One Nights and wider Arabic folklore, the game is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. MBC Game Studio has not announced a release date.

The story follows Yusra, Malik, and Sufyan, three heroes brought together by the Storyweaver Shahrazad. Their journey sends them in search of the lost power of the Mizan as they attempt to stop an ancient jinn king whose pursuit of revenge threatens humanity.
Players can tackle the adventure alone or with up to two other people through drop-in, drop-out co-op. MBC Game Studio describes the game as a shared journey where exploration, combat, and storytelling are all part of the same adventure.
Creative director Lars Bonde said the project started with the idea of taking the scale of a traditional single-player adventure and making that experience fully playable with friends.

Flying carpets play a much bigger role than simply moving players around the world. MBC Game Studio has built them into traversal and combat, allowing the three heroes to move between ground battles and fights in the air.
The reveal trailer shows players racing across large environments before taking on jinn that tower over the heroes. These large-scale creatures are a major part of the combat, with groups able to coordinate attacks while using their carpets to move around them.
A playable pre-alpha demo is available on the Gamescom show floor this week. It includes co-op, flying-carpet combat, and a boss fight against a jinn called Nazjush.
1001 Threads of Mizan is the first game from MBC Game Studio, which is backed by MBC Group. The team is led by CEO Daniel Engelhardt and COO Trevor Williams and includes developers who previously worked at studios including BioWare, Hi-Rez, Ubisoft Montréal, and Bungie.
MBC Game Studio says Arabic folklore is central to the project, drawing from One Thousand and One Nights and other stories to shape its fantasy world, characters, flying carpets, and jinn.
Development is still underway, with MBC Game Studio yet to announce when 1001 Threads of Mizan will launch.
