ArcheAge Chronicles gets free Steam demo on October 19

October 5, 2026·3 min read

XLGAMES is opening its next ArcheAge test to every Steam user, with combat, story content and PvP available without registration.

ArcheAge Chronicles will be playable for free later this month as part of Steam Next Fest. XLGAMES has confirmed that a limited-time PC demo will run from October 19 at 10 a.m. PDT through October 26 at the same time, with no registration or application required.

The demo gives a much wider group of players access to the upcoming open-world online action RPG following a limited network test in September. Anyone with a Steam account will be able to download the demo directly from the game's store page during the event.

The demo takes players to Diamond Shores

The Steam Next Fest build focuses on Diamond Shores, one of the earlier areas of Auroria. Players will be able to explore selected story content and try four playable classes: Warrior, Ranger, Berserker and Mage.

Each class offers a different approach to combat, ranging from the Warrior's close-range attacks to the Ranger's more mobile ranged style. All four classes will have access to two weapons in the demo, allowing players to experiment with different setups before the game's Early Access launch.

PvP will be playable publicly for the first time

The October demo will also mark the first time ArcheAge Chronicles' PvP system has been available in a public build. PvP channels will be unlocked from the beginning, so players will not have to progress through the story before fighting other players.

XLGAMES has designed the system around separate standard and PvP channels. Players cannot attack each other in standard channels, while PvP channels allow combat against anyone outside the player's party or guild and offer a modest bonus to experience earned from monsters.

The demo will not include everything planned for the full game. Housing and trade are among the life-skill systems being held back, with the October build instead focusing on combat, class identity, story content and PvP.

October's test is open to everyone on Steam

The new demo follows a September network test that was limited to selected Steam users in the United States and Canada. That test focused mainly on server stability and gave participants access to a smaller selection of early-game content.

XLGAMES said its servers remained stable even when more players joined than originally expected. The studio has continued working on combat, balance and performance using feedback gathered from that test.

Progress from the Steam Next Fest demo will not transfer into ArcheAge Chronicles when Early Access begins. XLGAMES has also warned that the demo uses an unfinished version of the game, so some features may be limited and players may encounter bugs.

The Early Access date is still unannounced

ArcheAge Chronicles is being developed as a follow-up set in Auroria, with exploration, action-focused combat and multiplayer systems alongside activities such as crafting, housing and trade. The full game is planned for PC and consoles, but XLGAMES has not yet announced a final release date.

The studio has said it will share the Early Access date and pricing when those details are ready. Until then, the October 19 Steam Next Fest demo will provide the next public opportunity to play ArcheAge Chronicles, with access remaining open through October 26.
