Armatus Launches January 7, 2027 With Day-One Game Pass Release

Counterplay Games' Armatus will launch on January 7, 2027, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

The date moves Armatus just beyond its previously announced 2026 launch window. Publisher Fictions has confirmed the date for the third-person roguelite shooter. Xbox lists Armatus for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, with Xbox Play Anywhere support.

Armatus drops players into the ruins of Paris as the last supernatural warrior of an ancient order. Each run begins with a scythe and a chosen firearm before celestial abilities and passive upgrades expand the available combat options.

Weapons include SMGs and shotguns, while supernatural powers can add effects such as holy fire or slowing time. Counterplay says players begin each attempt already heavily armed, then become stronger as they build combinations of weapons and abilities.

Dying ends a run, but not everything is lost. Counterplay has confirmed that some currencies and character upgrades persist between attempts, allowing players to return stronger as they push farther along the Scoured Path.

The game is built around learning from each attempt, improving the character, and trying new combinations rather than starting completely from scratch after every death.

Armatus takes place after demons have overrun Paris and the remaining survivors have retreated behind holy wards. Players are sent through the ruined city in search of the Sunless Gate, a lost path to heaven.

The environments become increasingly demonic as players progress, with stronger creatures appearing deeper into the city. Fictions describes Armatus as a single-player third-person roguelite shooter built around repeated runs through that changing landscape.
