Bill Skarsgård will lead Hideo Kojima’s Physint
September 18, 2026·3 min read
Kojima Productions has confirmed that Bill Skarsgård will play the lead character in PHYSINT, Hideo Kojima’s upcoming action-espionage game. The casting was announced during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast on September 17 alongside a new poster featuring Skarsgård and fellow cast member Charlee Fraser.
The announcement gives Physint its confirmed protagonist after Kojima Productions previously revealed several other members of the cast. A release date and final platform list have still not been announced, and the studio has yet to show gameplay.
Skarsgård has already begun work on the lead role

Kojima said Skarsgård and Fraser completed costume fittings, body scans, and camera tests earlier in 2026. That work indicates character production is already underway even though the game remains some distance from release.
“I’m delighted to confirm the lead role for Physint will be Bill Skarsgård,” Kojima said. He added that the two had been fans of each other’s work before deciding to collaborate. Skarsgård is best known for playing Pennywise in It and It Chapter Two. His other credits include Nosferatu, John Wick: Chapter 4, and Barbarian.
Kojima Productions has not revealed Skarsgård’s character name, background, or exact role in the story. The new poster offers another look at his appearance in the project but gives little away about the wider plot.
Physint already has several confirmed cast members
Skarsgård joins Charlee Fraser, Don Lee, and Minami Hamabe, who were revealed during Kojima Productions’ 10th anniversary event in September 2025. Kojima has also indicated that more cast announcements are planned as development continues.
The Tokyo Game Show poster puts Skarsgård and Fraser together, although the studio has not explained whether their characters are allies, enemies, or connected in another way. Kojima Productions has been revealing the cast gradually rather than explaining the entire ensemble at once. That approach has left most of the game’s characters and story details unknown despite several high-profile actors now being attached.

Xbox is now publishing Kojima’s espionage project

The casting update follows another major change for Physint. Kojima Productions confirmed earlier in September that Xbox is now publishing the game, expanding a partnership that already includes the horror project OD - KNOCK.
The publishing arrangement gives Physint a new home after its earlier connection to PlayStation. Kojima Productions has not yet explained how the change affects development, release plans, or platform availability. The Tokyo Game Show announcement instead focused on the cast and production progress, giving the project a more concrete lead performer while leaving its commercial details for later.
Kojima still describes Physint as an action-espionage game
Kojima Productions continues to describe Physint as an action-espionage title and the studio’s third original IP. Kojima has also described it as a project that brings together ideas from across his roughly 40-year career.
The game is expected to combine cinematic presentation with espionage-focused action, although the studio has not yet explained its core mechanics or mission structure. No launch window was announced alongside Skarsgård’s casting. For now, the Tokyo Game Show reveal confirms the actor at the center of Physint while Kojima Productions continues work on the project and prepares to reveal more of its cast and gameplay.
