Crazy Taxi: World Tour reveals its Japan map in new trailer

SEGA has released a new trailer for Crazy Taxi: World Tour showcasing the Japan map players will race through when the series returns in 2027. The footage debuted around Tokyo Game Show 2026 and gives a closer look at one of the locations included in the game’s wider global tour.

SEGA describes the Japan setting as a place where the past meets the future. The trailer focuses on the contrast between traditional landmarks and modern city streets as drivers race between passenger destinations.

The new footage shows the Japan map combining historic architecture with dense urban areas and more futuristic cityscapes. SEGA is using those changes in scenery to give different parts of the map their own look as players move between destinations.

The trailer also shows the kind of fast, unpredictable routes associated with the series, with taxis cutting through traffic and moving between very different environments in a short amount of time. SEGA has not revealed the full size of the Japan map or explained whether it covers one city or combines several locations into a single playable area. The company has also not listed every landmark, district, or mission that will appear there.

The Japan setting is part of the larger structure behind Crazy Taxi: World Tour. SEGA says players will drive through cities around the world, with locations featuring different terrain and driving challenges rather than simply changing the scenery.

The new game keeps the basic idea of picking up passengers and reaching their destinations as quickly as possible. Players will also encounter different characters and complete a wider range of missions while exploring each city.

SEGA has not yet revealed every country or map included in the final game. The Japan trailer is the latest step in gradually showing how the “World Tour” concept will work across its different locations.

SEGA recently tested the game’s multiplayer through a closed network test held from September 12 to 14. The test included two online modes, two maps, six vehicles, and four playable drivers.

Pickup Race challenged players to collect passengers and deliver them before their rivals. Cops 'n' Cabbies instead split players between taxi drivers and police, creating a more competitive chase-focused mode.

Ranked and custom matches were also available. SEGA said the test represented only part of the final multiplayer experience and was mainly used to check network stability before launch.

Nintendo Switch 2 was not included in the test, although SEGA has confirmed that the full game is coming to the platform.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store. SEGA has not announced a more specific release date.

The Japan reveal adds another confirmed setting to the revival while leaving much of the world tour unexplained. SEGA has yet to reveal which location will be shown next or how many maps players can expect when Crazy Taxi: World Tour launches next year.
