Dying Light: The Beast DLC Could Be Steam's Next Free-to-Keep Giveaway

September 16, 2026·2 min read

Steam may be preparing another free-to-keep promotion for September, with Dying Light: The Beast - Discharge Weapon Pack appearing in SteamDB's list of potentially upcoming giveaways.

The DLC normally costs $4.99 and adds an electrified machete and weapon charm to Techland's open-world survival game. Valve and Techland have not announced the offer yet, however, so the SteamDB listing should be treated as an early indication rather than confirmation that the giveaway will definitely go live.

The Discharge Weapon Pack currently appears under SteamDB's section for potentially upcoming Free to Keep promotions. These promotions differ from Steam's free weekends because players can normally claim the featured game or DLC during a limited window and permanently keep it on their account afterward.

SteamDB does not currently list a start time or end time for the Dying Light: The Beast offer. The tracker also separates potential promotions from giveaways that have already been activated, leaving the timing and final availability unconfirmed.

That means the listing can reveal promotional packages before they become visible to players, but it does not guarantee that every planned offer will ultimately launch in its current form. Neither Steam nor Techland has published an announcement for the Discharge Weapon Pack giveaway as of September 16.

The giveaway would cover DLC, not Dying Light: The Beast

The potential offer is for the Discharge Weapon Pack rather than a free copy of Dying Light: The Beast itself. Techland released the DLC in March for $4.99. Its main addition is the Discharge Machete, an electrified melee weapon based on equipment recovered from Harran. The pack also includes the VNC Weapon Charm.

Steam lists Dying Light: The Beast as required to use the DLC, so claiming the pack would not provide access to the base game for players who do not already own it.

For now, the pack remains a paid DLC on Steam, with no official giveaway window announced. The SteamDB listing is the first indication that Techland's weapon pack could become one of the platform's next limited-time free-to-keep offers.
