Kim Kaphwan Joins Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves September 24

Kim Kaphwan will join Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves on September 24 as the third DLC fighter in Season 3, bringing the veteran taekwondo master into the same playable roster as both of his sons for the first time.

SNK confirmed the release date alongside a new character trailer showing Kim's return to South Town. Kim Dong Hwan is part of the game's original roster, while Kim Jae Hoon joined through Season 2, meaning all three members of the fighting family will finally be playable together when their father arrives.

Kim made his series debut in Fatal Fury 2 in 1992 and remains closely associated with taekwondo, rapid kicks, and his strong sense of justice.

His City of the Wolves character profile presents him as an experienced fighter who continues training despite already being regarded as a master. SNK says his sons still look to him as a goal to surpass, with Kim's own pursuit of greater strength continuing alongside his role as their father.

June Yoon voices Kim in English, while Kunihiro Kawamoto provides his Japanese voice. His addition follows Rick Strowd and Duck King in Season 3, which has been adding new fighters and other content through monthly updates since July.

Kim will arrive with new stories in both Arcade Mode and Episodes of South Town, giving his DLC more than a playable character addition.

His Episodes of South Town chapter begins after he returns to South Town following a long absence. Kim visits Tizoc, who has been helping guide Dong Hwan and Jae Hoon while their father has been away. The story then focuses on the three family members spending time together as Dong Hwan and Jae Hoon open up about feelings they have kept from him.

Arcade Mode takes a more traditional fighting route. Kim continues his daily training while teaching and raising his sons, then returns to the King of Fighters tournament to test his strength and convictions in battle.

Kim is the September addition to a Season 3 lineup that began with Rick Strowd in July and continued with Duck King in August.

SNK has since confirmed that Tokyo Revengers characters Manjiro Sano and Ken Ryuguji will both arrive on October 22, followed by Laocorn in November. One final Season 3 fighter remains unannounced for December.

Kim was also made playable early at Tokyo Game Show 2026 ahead of his scheduled September 24 release, giving attendees a chance to try the returning fighter before the DLC becomes widely available.
