Payday 2 gets a new heist three years after Payday 3 launched
September 17, 2026·3 min read
Starbreeze has released a new heist for Payday 2 almost three years after Payday 3 launched. The Under the Hammer DLC arrived on September 15 for PC and sends the Payday gang into the Pallisandro Dimora auction house.
The $4.99 expansion was developed by Sidetrack Games and published by Starbreeze Entertainment. It adds the new heist alongside a shotgun, melee weapon, masks, and another weapon attachment.
Under the Hammer sends the gang to an auction house

Under the Hammer takes place long before the events of the White House heist. Bain is following the trail of a lost fortune and sends the crew to Pallisandro Dimora, an aging auction house filled with artwork that once belonged to a master thief.
The paintings themselves are not particularly valuable to the crew. One of them instead contains a clue that could lead Bain to the missing fortune, providing the reason for the gang's latest robbery.
The DLC is available through Steam and the Epic Games Store and requires the PC version of Payday 2. Starbreeze also includes it as part of the Payday 2 Subscription.
A revolving shotgun and oversized gavel join the arsenal

The new Karussell Revolving Shotgun is the main firearm included with Under the Hammer. It uses a five-round revolving cylinder and is designed around high damage rather than a high rate of fire.
Players also receive the Last Call melee weapon, an oversized auction gavel that fits the setting of the new heist. Two masks named Comedy and Tragedy complete the paid equipment included in the pack.
There is also something for players who do not purchase the DLC. Completing the new BFD Junior achievement unlocks the Vintage Sight weapon mod for everyone, regardless of whether they own Under the Hammer.

Payday 2 continues receiving updates alongside its sequel
Under the Hammer launched together with Payday 2 Update 248. The 1.7 GB update adds an option for changing the audio output device and fixes several crashes, sound problems, and issues affecting existing heists and weapons.
The new content arrives more than 13 years after Payday 2 originally launched in 2013. Starbreeze has continued updating the older game even after Payday 3 released in September 2023, including a major engine upgrade and several patches earlier this year.
Under the Hammer is available now on PC for $4.99. Starbreeze has not announced a console version of the new heist, leaving the latest Payday 2 content focused on the game's PC community.

Payday 2
Payday 2 is an action-packed, four-player co-op shooter that once again lets gamers don the masks of the original crew: Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf and Chains as they descend on Washington D.C. for an epic crime spree.
