PGL Wallachia Season 9 Starts September 19 With $1 Million Dota 2 Field

PGL Wallachia Season 9 begins September 19 in Bucharest, bringing 16 Dota 2 teams together for nine days of competition and a $1 million prize pool.

PGL's dedicated Season 9 page lists the tournament for September 19 to 27 at the PGL Studios, although the organizer's general event calendar still shows the earlier September 17 start date. The published match schedule also begins on September 19.

All 16 participants have now been confirmed, with PGL listing 1win, Aurora Gaming, Team Cobra, Conventus Stellarum, GamerLegion, Hokori, LGD Gaming, MOUZ, Natus Vincere, Team Nemesis, Pibbles Corp, Pipsqueak4, PlayTime, Xtreme Gaming, Yakult Brothers, and Team Yandex.

For NAVI, Wallachia will be its first major tournament of the new season. The organization received its invitation shortly before the event and will open against Hokori on September 19.

PGL Wallachia begins with a Swiss group stage before the tournament moves into a double-elimination playoff bracket.

All group-stage matches are played as best-of-three series. Teams continue through the modified Swiss stage until they reach three series wins or three losses, with eight teams advancing to the playoffs and the other eight eliminated.

The playoffs continue with double elimination. Most series remain best-of-three, while the September 27 grand final expands to a best-of-five to decide the Season 9 champion.

PGL is distributing the full $1 million prize pool across all 16 teams, with $300,000 reserved for the champion and $175,000 going to second place.

Third place receives $120,000, followed by $80,000 for fourth. Teams finishing fifth and sixth earn $60,000 each, while seventh and eighth receive $40,000. Even teams eliminated during the Swiss stage will leave with prize money, ranging from $10,000 to $20,000 depending on placement.
