Upcoming Steam Platformer Reytrieve Odyssey Combines Open-World Exploration With Fast Movement
Reytrieve Odyssey is an upcoming solo-developed 3D platformer combining colorful open-world exploration, fast traversal, collectible hunting, and interchangeable abilities, with an early PC build already available.
An upcoming Steam game called Reytrieve Odyssey is bringing together the colorful worlds and collectible hunting of A Hat in Time with fast-paced movement reminiscent of Sonic Frontiers. The single-player 3D platformer is still in development, but an early playable version is already available for PC.
Developed by solo creator Egor Poskriakov, also known as EgorPosk, the game follows an android named Rey as she escapes a laboratory and explores large islands filled with mysterious data disks. Its main feature is a system that lets players switch abilities using cartridges attached to Rey's head.
Rey can swap abilities to tackle different platforming challenges

Rey can sprint, double jump, bounce off walls using an air kick, and swing across gaps with a grappling hook.
The cartridge system adds another layer to exploration. Each cartridge changes Rey's abilities, allowing players to approach obstacles in different ways. Some also affect the surrounding environment, opening up additional ways to navigate platforming sections.
These mechanics give the game its clearest similarities to A Hat in Time and Sonic Frontiers. The ability-switching system resembles the former's movement-focused equipment, while the open environments and fast traversal bring the latter to mind.
However, Reytrieve Odyssey is not being presented as a direct successor to either game. Its abilities, characters, and setting are part of an original project.
Collecting mysterious disks drives exploration

Beyond its movement system, Reytrieve Odyssey follows the structure of a traditional 3D collectathon. Players explore colorful islands, discover hidden areas, encounter unusual characters, and collect disks connected to the world's story. The adventure begins with Rey escaping a laboratory, although its influence continues to follow her as she explores.
The developer's earlier description also mentions collecting fragments of the Tablets of Memory to uncover more about the setting. Combat is included alongside the platforming. Rey can attack enemies using her fists, while her movement abilities help her navigate encounters and environmental challenges.
Rather than moving through a fixed sequence of linear stages, the game emphasizes exploring its environments at the player's own pace.
A playable early build is available before the Steam launch
Although Reytrieve Odyssey does not have a confirmed Steam release date, players can already try an early version through the developer's itch.io page.
The downloadable Windows build includes the first act of the opening chapter and a tutorial. It features five cartridges, and the developer says players can unlock all the abilities available in this version. The build is offered on a name-your-own-price basis. It remains an unfinished version of the game rather than the complete Steam release.
Meanwhile, the official Steam page is available for wishlisting. It lists Windows as the supported platform and includes planned features such as Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud. EgorPosk has not announced a release window or confirmed whether the finished game will launch on other platforms.
