Sony Starts Selling LEGO Astro Bot Separately From the LEGO PlayStation

October 2, 2026·3 min read

Sony has started selling the 276-piece LEGO Astro Bot set separately through PlayStation Direct, while buyers of the larger LEGO PlayStation can still claim Astro through a limited promotion.

Sony has started selling the LEGO Astro Bot set separately through PlayStation Direct, giving fans a way to pick up the 276-piece model without buying the much larger LEGO PlayStation set.

Astro Bot is priced at $24.99 in the US, £17.99 in the UK and €19.99 across supported European PlayStation Direct stores. The standalone option arrives alongside a limited promotion that also lets customers receive the set at no extra cost when purchasing the LEGO PlayStation.

Astro Bot no longer requires a much larger LEGO purchase

The Astro Bot model was introduced as a gift-with-purchase tied to the launch of LEGO's recreation of the original PlayStation, but PlayStation Direct now lets customers buy the two sets separately.

That makes the character considerably more accessible for fans who were interested in Astro but did not want to spend $179.99 on the 1,911-piece LEGO PlayStation.

The standalone model contains 276 pieces and comes with its own display stand. Astro's head and arms can be repositioned, while interchangeable round and half-moon eyes provide different expressions. The set also includes a cape and blue propulsion effects for alternative display configurations.

With the stand included, the finished model measures just over eight inches tall.

Buying the LEGO PlayStation can still get Astro at no extra cost

Sony is also keeping Astro Bot as part of its launch promotion for the larger PlayStation set.

Customers who add both products to the same PlayStation Direct order between October 1 and October 7 will receive the Astro Bot set at no additional cost, while supplies last. The offer is limited to one per customer.

LEGO is running a similar gift-with-purchase promotion through LEGO.com and LEGO Stores during the same period. In the US, customers receive Astro Bot with at least $150 in qualifying LEGO merchandise, meaning the promotion is not restricted to buying the PlayStation model.

The important difference with PlayStation Direct is that fans who do not meet a promotional spending threshold can simply purchase Astro on his own.

LEGO PlayStation remains the premium option

The larger LEGO PlayStation recreates Sony's original console at close to full size with 1,911 pieces.

Its build includes the console and controller alongside interactive details such as working Power and Open buttons. The interior also contains removable scenes based on Gran Turismo and Ape Escape, tying the model more closely to PlayStation's early software history.

It costs $179.99 in the US, £139.99 in the UK and €159.99 in Europe.

Astro Bot's separate release offers a much smaller alternative within the same collaboration. Fans can now choose the character model by itself, while buyers already planning to pick up the LEGO PlayStation can claim Astro through the limited launch promotion instead.
